8/14 Williamston, NC

At Farm Country Campground. Great little campground. Not highly used so the sites are covered with lush green grass. The trees are still small so there's no shade and it took until sundown to get the MH below 83 degrees.

We splurged and ordered a meal to go from the local dining hotspot called Deadwood right across the road from the campground. Ribeye with baked potato for us both and Deedee had fried apple with ice cream for dessert. It's a huge multi-level, rambling, rustic ambiance type of place. The parking lot was full all afternoon so I figured that if the locals like it, then it should be OK.

Tomorrow we'll be heading for Cape Hatteras National Seashore for the outer banks experience. Locals refer to it as OBX. The park campgrounds don't have any hookups so as much as I'd like to stay in them, the heat will probably drive us to stay in a commercial site with electricity.

  1. Ya, guessing you'll need the A/c going. Crazy weather this summer. I remember going to Cape Hatteras the summer I graduated with Mom, Dad, Gayle and Roger. Remember camping on the beach in the camper. No-see-ums came through the screens and bit us all nite long even after we shut the windows. So we were being bit and it was really hot with windows closed. But it was a gorgeous beach. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks for the heads up. Sure sounds like a miserable night. We ended up at Hatteras Sands Campground for a couple of nights so we'd have AC. Too much of a wussie to brave the heat.
