Spending the night in the parking lot of Chinook fairgrounds. There isn't much in the way decent low cost RV parks along this highway. We decided that rather than drive quite a ways further and she'll out just for a place to park for the night that we'd try something different. No charge to park here but it's a gravel lot, more correctly it's a mud lot. I had a shoe sucked off while coming back from walking the dogs and ended up with my sock in the mud on the next step.
When I did see someone that looked like he may in charge and asked if it would be ok if we spent the night he said no problem but wanted us to be aware that they were staging a hot rod cruise out of here tonight. It's only a little after 6 pm and some of them are doing burn outs on the adjacent street already. Hopefully we'll be able to get some rest here tonight.
Well I'm enjoying your trip right along with you! Anxious to hear when the burn outs stop. Maybe you should put lawn chairs on top of your rv and just enjoy the show. This is probably asking too much. It would be nice to have a map that starts in Spokane and is highlighted daily of your distance. Look forward to tomorrow's adventure!
ReplyDeleteIt's quite down already. I guess the cruse was today and it ended up here with a dinner in the community center just a couple of hundred feet from us. It would be nice to put up a map that shows are distance. Even though we're supposed to be taking our time it seems like there's no time left for thing's like that after dealing with evening meals and gassing up and somewhat planning where to stop the folio wing day so Deedee can start looking for places to stay. What I've been doing to track progress of a sort is to just google our present location and distance to Austin. It's approximately 1000 miles yet it I remember correctly. Then there is the issue of cell coverage, we don't always have it in the evening and Deedee isn't tech savvy enough to do it a's I drive. Nice idea though. I've seen it done by others but don't have the time to do it myself at this time.
ReplyDeleteGottchs. I actually did google the distance. Anyway, I ran into Mike Bell at Shopko tonite and mentioned that you are on your way home. He said"This time I'm going to call him" he said he has your cell. Just thought I would let you know. It absolutely pouring right now.
