Little Manatee River State Park in site #10 with a Friday 9/2 departure. Campground is booked solid for the Labor Day weekend so we'll probably mosie on down the road then. Hoping to get some quality time with Missy, Chris and Bridgette this week.
Edited 8/30
Spent Sunday with Chris and Missy, they sure have a beautiful house. We'll spend Wednesday with them as well.
Missy drove us around the area on Sunday. We saw a manatee at one of the parks that they kayak at and a gator in pond in their development and then a tortoise back at the State park that we are staying at.
We went for a walk in the park on Monday to look at Little Manatee River. At the beginning of the trail we looked at a sign that showed the various poisonous snakes in this area. We hadn't walked more than 50' down the trail than a black snake slithered within a couple of feet of Deedee. Never seen her panic like that before, she was almost hyperventilating. Needless to say, she walked behind me after that. Turns out that it was a fairly common black racer and they aren't poisonous.
Getting several rain showers a day and it's difficult to keep the sand out off the MH when it's wet outside because it sticks to your feet. The campsites are mostly sand, with some grass scattered here and there. The MH is dripping wet outside in the morning too because of the humidity condensing on, probably due to it being cold from the AC. We've been keeping an eye on some developing storms for potential hurricanes and will probably have some heavier wind and rain further north when we leave the Tampa area.
We did find an open site in Oleno SP, a little NW of Gainsville to spend the holiday weekend.
We've decided that we've had enough travelling for this year and will start making our way back towards Spokane on a diagonal line across the states. We'll leave the southwestern states for another trip. Hopefully next year.
All is well, life is good.
