Monday July 11 Black Hawk County Park, Cedar Falls Iowa

Made the big move of 100 miles or so from  Minnesota to Iowa today. The wind was hitting us broadside for most of the trip so I was glad when the drive was over. We're staying at Black Hawk County Park in Cedar Falls and  will be here for at least 3 days. The park is in a flood plain so this is an ideal use for the land. Lots of empty nice campsites to choose from. It's quite large with several different areas with picnic shelters and playground equipment. They also have archery ranges and rifle ranges available as well as a boat launch to the Cedar River. There were a couple of deer that ran past the camping area a little bit ago. We have full hookups for the 1st time in over a week so we're really splurging on water usage for a change. Called a few relatives after we got settled in. It'll be nice to see them again.

I  need to make repairs to 1 of the day/night shades that had a polyester cord break. It looks rather complicated to restring it. Best left for morning.

We haven't decided on our next destination yet. It'll be generally easterly but I need to spend some time figuring out how best to avoid the Chicago area.

That's it for today folks. Oh, I found several 4 leaf clovers before leaving Oakwoods Trails Campground this morning so things should be just fine for a while.

Then it rained really hard so we just stayed home. The humidity really drains u. Tomorrow going to Everglades. Tried calling uncle John tonite but no answer. He was to get out today. Will try again tomorrow.😴💤

  2. Must be having fun if you're that tired. Gotta keep the young ones busy. The humidity here is wearing us down too. We did drive to Johns yesterday. He'd gotten home in the morning and said that he was well stocked with groceries. Enjoy your fun in the sun with Grant.
